This recipe will come with an overview of how to make chewy, mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies and provide some additional tips that’ll help you bake!
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to make cannabutter first – see recipe below.
Gathering Your Ingredients
Once the cannabutter has been made, it is time to get our other cookie ingredients together. The difficult part is already over; the rest of this recipe is simple and easy to follow. If you follow our exact recipe, you should be able to bake around 30 cookies in 45 minutes to a hour.
Here are the necessary ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cannabutter (can add more: will make cookies more potent)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 bags of different chocolate chips (you will use half of each bag) – 1/2 bag of Nestle semisweet and 1/2 bag of Hershey milk chocolate
- Optional: 1 cup walnuts
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
With regular butter, grease two cookie sheets or line your sheets with parchment paper. If you only have one baking sheet available, make sure to allow the sheet to cool down before adding another batch of cookies.
In a small saucepan, melt the cannabutter about 3/4 the way done. I usually use the oven or microwave to melt the butter. Let the butter cool and reach room temperature.
In a large bowl, add your eggs, sugars, vanilla and melted butter. Whisk until the contents are smooth.
In a second separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda and salt. When the dry ingredients are combined, slowly stir the first bowls wet ingredients in with the dry.
Important: Do not over mix – this will change the texture of the cookies.
Add your two different types of chocolate chips and our option walnuts, if you so do choose.
Scoop about 1/4 cup of cookie dough, or a little larger if you’re like me and enjoy big cookies! Make sure to keep 2-3 inches between each cookie
Bake your Double Chocolate Chip Cookies for about 12-16 minutes, but check frequently and cook to desired softness. The shorter you allow the cookies to bake the chewier they will be.
Additional Baking Tips
If you want the best possible cookies follow these three tips:
- Bake in smaller batches – reducing the amount of cookies that can get burnt and with more space they should cook evenly.
- While baking, look for the first signs of “barely browned spots” this is when you should pull the cookies. Unless you want crunchy cookies!
- If time isn’t a factor refrigerate the cookie dough before cooking it. This helps soften the dough.

How to Make Cannabutter in Six Easy Steps
The main ingredient in our chocolate chip cannabis cookies is cannabis-infused butter, or commonly known as cannabutter. This butter is how you will manage to get high while enjoying these tasty treats. Cannabutter does take some time to make but is very easy. Cannabuttercan be used for cookies, brownies, toast and so much more.
What you will need:
- Single layer baking sheet
- Medium sauce pan
- 1 Quart of water
- 4 Sticks of butter
- 1 Ounce of your favorite cannabis (ground)
- Plastic bowl/container
Steps for the perfect cannabutter:
First, we must heat our cannabis to truly activate the THC. This is called decarboxylation. To do this, preheat the oven to 240 degrees Farenheit.
Next, place the cannabis into a single-layer baking sheet, and make sure the sheet has sides.
Allow the cannabis to bake for 38-40 minutes, rotating the baking sheet a few times to ensure the cannabis is heating evenly.
This will cause the cannabis to become dry and very crumbly, and this is how you know you are done with step 1 and getting closer to adding your butter!
Grab your medium sauce pan and bring 1 quart of water to a rapid boil.
Once the water is boiling, add the proportional amount of butter. Allow the butter to melt all the way.
For the purpose of this recipe, use 4 sticks of butter. You will typically want to use 4 sticks of butter for every 1 ounce of ground weed.
When the butter has melted completely, add the cannabis.
Reduce the heat to about the lowest setting (we should see a slight simmer). Let the cannabis simmer for about the next 3 hours.
This step is finished once the top of the cannabutter mix is glossing over and starting to become thick.
Note: A finished mix will not be watery!!!
While the butter is simmering, use this time to set up the bowl that will house the finished cannabutter. Use a heatproof bowl or plastic food container big enough to hold the contents.
Next, place a double layer of cheesecloth over the top of the bowl, and make sure the cheesecloth is securely fastened down with string, elastic or tape.
Stick with me we are ALMOST DONE!!!
Strain the cannabis butter over the bowl. When the pan is empty, undo the elastic, string or tape.
Pick up the cheesecloth from all four sides and squeeze out as much of the remaining butter as possible.
Allow the cannabutter to cool for an hour. Place in the fridge until the butter has risen to the top layer and is solid.
Don’t worry, we are almost finished! I promise!
Use a knife around the edges to allow yourself to lift the butter out of the container.
Place upside down and scrape off any of the remaining cooking water.
